With the support of the extremist Ben-Gvir.Haaretz reveals details of a campaign to accelerate the Judaization of the Temple Mount
The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" revealed a new and systematic plan implemented by the Israeli police to recruit members from the extreme right and religious Jews to work within the guard units of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The report reported that the deputy commander of the so-called "Temple Mount" police unit, Daniel Lersch, launched a broad recruitment campaign targeting religious officers, using social networks and WhatsApp groups linked to right-wing currents and settlers in the occupied West Bank to increase the pace of Judaization and impose Israeli sovereignty on the site.
The Israeli police official published direct messages through right-wing groups in which he called on those wishing to join the new project, announcing the launch of a project to recruit clerics and direct them to apply sovereignty on the ground inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The recruitment letter set out flexible and attractive working conditions for the new unit, allowing the recruits to work on a working schedule that allows only four days a week or ten days a month with lucrative salaries and flexible shifts, describing the mission as a "high-level national service" to attract militant settler segments.
Religious and political escalation under the auspices of Itamar Ben-Gvir
Rabbis involved in extremist "temple groups" urged their students to immediately join the police stationed at the site, with the aim of ensuring that there is an ultra-Orthodox Jewish element among the security forces deployed inside the compound.
The data contained in the report linked these security developments to the rapid changes witnessed by the Al-Aqsa Mosque recently, pointing to the pivotal role of the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir and his hard-right allies in advancing this file by extending the hours of incursions by settlers, allowing public Jewish prayers, and raising Israeli flags using his parliamentary immunity.
Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, one of the most prominent figures of the religious nationalist movement, called for the establishment of a synagogue inside the Temple Mount, citing previous fatwas and statements claiming the site is sacred to Jews.
Police sources revealed to the newspaper that officers working at religious sites in the Old City of Jerusalem maintain regular and continuous contacts with Ben Gvir and his wife, which reflects a high degree of direct political and security coordination to manage the file of the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and change the historical and legal situation in it.
Palestinian warns of a 'new phase' of Judaization
In this context, these Israeli revelations come to confirm the fears of the Islamic and Palestinian circles about the occupation's efforts to militarize the Al-Haram Al-Sharif with ideological settlement tools, as the Jerusalem Governorate of the Palestinian Authority issued a statement in which it strongly condemned the Israeli move.
The governorate considered that the integration of activists of extremist Temple groups and followers of religious Zionism into the security services, which impose their control on the ground by force of arms, represents a "dangerous development and an advanced stage" of the Judaization project.
These regional and field developments place the international community and Jordan, as the Hashemite custodian, in front of a legal and historical responsibility to curb these excesses, which threaten to detonate the security situation in the region and turn the political conflict into an open religious confrontation whose consequences cannot be predicted.
