Washington announces end its "revenge" against Iran over the downing of the Apache plane

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the end of its retaliatory operations against Iran in response to the downing of a US Army Apache aircraft over the Strait of Hormuz off  the coast of the Sultanate of Oman.

CENTCOM said in a statement at dawn on Wednesday, June 10, that its forces completed the military strikes they carried out against Iranian targets, noting that they targeted air defense systems, ground control stations and radar surveillance sites near the Strait of Hormuz.

The  US military announced that these strikes came in response to the downing of a US helicopter earlier, stressing that the Central Command forces carried out their operations against the specified targets and that the mission was over.

Iranian media stressed that the IRGC has announced the continuation of clashes, threatening "tougher responses" if the United States continues its military operations against Iran.

Apache Plane Shot Down

The United States  officially announced the downing of an Apache AH-64 attack helicopter  over the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman, after it was targeted by an Iranian Shahed drone in an incident that occurred on Monday, June 8  , 2026, marking the first US loss of this kind since the outbreak of direct military confrontations in the region in February 2026.

According to military sources, US forces were able  to rescue the two pilots who were on board the helicopter within just two hours of its crash, without recording any injuries, using artificial intelligence systems and drones belonging to Task Force 59, in a move that was considered an operational precedent in the field of search and rescue.

U.S. officials confirmed that the helicopter was destroyed as a result of a direct targeting by a suicide drone while it was conducting a reconnaissance patrol in territorial waters, and  U.S. President Donald Trump called the attack a "deliberate act" and vowed a military response.

Iranian state media quoted the IRGC as saying the operation was in response to "US aggression", warning that Tehran would respond "more severely" if US attacks continued.

The IRGC said the US strikes damaged a telecommunications tower and two water tanks in the southern Iranian port city of Serik, Reuters reported.

In the same context, Iranian media quoted the Unified Command of the Iranian Armed Forces as saying that some US bases in the region were targeted in response to US attacks in southern Iran.
