Vice President of the Aleppo Chamber of Industry: 600 Turkish companies are active in Syria

The vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aleppo, Hussein Issa, revealed that about 600 Turkish companies are currently active inside Syrian territory in various industrial sectors.

In an interview with  the Turkish newspaper Türkiye Gazetsi, he explained that the country has entered a new phase of reconstruction in various fields, stressing the need for cooperation with Turkey in multiple sectors including security, defense, energy, education, health, construction, transportation, technology, industry and trade.

Issa pointed out that the volume of trade exchange before the war in Syria was about $6 billion, while it has now reached about $10 billion, expecting it to rise in the coming years to $30 billion, with the possibility of expanding to more than $100 billion to include the markets of Arab countries combined.

Issa did not mention the volume of Syrian exports to Turkey, but revealed that more than 10,000 Turkish entrepreneurs have visited Syria since December 2024, after the fall of the former regime, stressing that there are great investment opportunities, especially with the progress of infrastructure plans and the return of activity to industrial cities.

About 600 Turkish investors have already started their businesses inside Syria, including major companies in the fields of energy, cement, tractors, building materials and concrete plants, such as Sanco, Limak and Oyak, Issa said.

Turkish Exports 2025

According to data from Anadolu Agency and the Turkish Exporters Union,  Turkish exports to Syria achieved  a record growth in 2025 by 69%, reaching a value of $2.56 billion,  while the governor of the Central Bank of Syria  recently estimated them at about $3.7 billion, including all channels.

Exports recorded the highest growth in the cereals, legumes, oilseeds and processed products sector, with an increase of 35.4%, with a value of $700 million and 76 thousand dollars in this sector alone.

In second place, the chemicals and their derivatives sector came in second place, with exports of 299 million and 84 thousand dollars, and the third place was the electricity and electronics sector with 224 million and 311 thousand dollars.

The head of the trade affairs department with Syria at the Turkish Exporters Union, Celal Kadıoğlu, told Anadolu Agency that the increase in exports to Syria was not the result of isolated developments, but rather a systematic effort throughout the year, as 2025 was a year in which Turkish-Syrian trade relations were built on a more predictable, more institutionalized, and more sustainable foundation.

Exclusive: $3.7 billion worth of Turkish exports

The  governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdul Qadir Hosriya, recently  confirmed after  the meetings of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee in the middle of this month,  that the value of Turkish exports to Syria in 2025 amounted to about $3.7 billion, and there is an ambition to increase them, as well as increase Syrian exports to Turkey in light of the recovery of the Syrian economy, (without specifying figures for the volume of Syrian exports to Turkey).

He stressed that it is necessary to cooperate and open official financial channels between the two countries, provide cross-border financing, and trade exchange through the banking sector in the two countries, and Syrian-Turkish banking cooperation must grow in line with the growth in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

During the meetings of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee, the governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdul Qadir Hosriya, stressed the need to institutionalize this growth by "opening official financial channels" and providing cross-border financing. He stressed the importance of trade exchange through the banking sector in the two countries to ensure currency stability and stimulate sustainable growth, expressing his ambition to increase Syrian exports corresponding to Turkey to achieve a balance in the trade balance.

Local Product and Trade Balance

Despite official optimism, academics and economists believe that this rapid expansion of Turkish exports could pose a "clear threat" to the Syrian emerging product.

Some of them considered in press statements that the increase is exaggerated and reflects negatively on the Syrian trade balance in light of the absence of accurate figures for Syrian exports to Turkey, which puts the government in front of the challenge of "protecting the national industry."
