Ukrainian President arrives in Damascus to meet with the legitimate president

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accompanied by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, arrived in Damascus today on an official visit to Syria and met with President Ahmed al-Shara.

Zelensky was received at Damascus International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani.

 Turkey's Anadolu Agency reported that the Ukrainian president, who arrived in Damascus from Ankara, will hold a trilateral meeting with his Syrian counterpart and the Turkish foreign minister.

During the meeting, bilateral and regional issues will be discussed in contacts with Syrian officials, in addition to discussing projects managed at the bilateral level for the reconstruction of Syria, she said.

Last September, Syria and Ukraine signed a joint statement on the restoration of diplomatic relations between them, during the meeting between President Al-Sharia and President Zelensky in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
