U.S. Presidential Visits to China

Over the decades, China has witnessed a series of US presidential visits that have been milestones in the history of relations between the two countries, starting with President Richard Nixon's historic visit in 1972, which opened the door to normalization of relations after decades of estrangement, through visits by Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush, and Obama, to more recent visits that focused on trade, technology, and regional security.
