Trump: I'm not going to extend the deadline at all. Tehran is sticking to its terms

The U.S.-Israel war on Iran has entered its 39th day amid growing military and political escalation, as the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Tehran draws to a close, and as warring forces continue to exchange strikes, Iran reaffirms its rejection of the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire, at a time when Washington is threatening sanctions and large-scale strikes if Tehran does not respond by the deadline set on Tuesday evening.

Israeli strikes and Iranian missile response

Israel announced a series of airstrikes targeting government and military sites in Tehran and a number of governorates, and Iran responded by firing missiles towards southern Israel, prompting Israeli air defense systems to act intensively.

In the Gulf, Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted ballistic missiles, some of which landed near energy facilities, in a sign of the extent of the confrontation.

Trump's threats... And an unprecedented language

U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his threat to send Iran back to the "Stone Age" if it does not agree to a deal before Tuesday's 8 p.m. EST deadline, stressing that he would not give Iran an additional extension, and went further when he vowed to completely destroy Iran's infrastructure if Tehran did not respond to his demands, remarks Iran described as incitement to terrorism and an announcement of intent to commit war crimes.

Tehran sticks to its terms

Iran has handed over to Pakistan its official response to the US proposal, including rejecting a ceasefire before reaching a comprehensive solution that includes the lifting of sanctions, reconstruction, ending regional conflicts, and establishing a protocol to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, IRNA reported.

In a related context, informed sources said that Tehran does not intend to abandon the strait card before clear political and economic guarantees.

In parallel, popular and official calls have escalated inside Iran to protect vital facilities, with political and sports officials calling for the formation of human chains in front of power plants.

Human Casualties and a Change in the Balance of Power

Since the war broke out on February 28, thousands have been killed in the Middle East, including more than 3,500 in Iran and about 1,500 in Lebanon, as a result of Israel's targeting of Hezbollah sites.

Iran's downing of a US F-15E fighter jet was  one of the most prominent developments in the ongoing military escalation since the end of last February, and this caused a political crisis within the United States before Trump came out  with statements in which he said that "US special forces succeeded in rescuing the pilot", which Tehran strongly denied, stressing that US forces suffered additional losses during their attempts to rescue the pilot from deep inside the country.
