The Syrian series "Yum and Shwee" wins the international award "The Telly Awards"

The Syrian short series "Day and Show" has achieved a remarkable international presence in the creative arts circles, after winning the prestigious "The Telly Awards" in the United States of America, which is one of the most prominent honorary platforms dedicated to television works, digital and documentary productions globally.
This coronation came to crown a different dramatic experience that tried to simulate the human reality boldly and deeply away from the scenes of traditional productions.
International recognition of independent drama
Syrian writer and director Yaman Antebli announced the news of the crowning of the work of the International Award through his official accounts on social media, explaining that this international achievement came as a result of the team's belief in the project and the message it carries, despite the scarcity of possibilities and the great production complexities that usually face the industry of short and independent drama series.
Antebli pointed out that the makers of "Yum and Shwee" deliberately presented a different artistic and cultural template from the prevailing in the Syrian drama market, focusing on addressing purely human issues and a bold visual vision, away from the usual stereotypes and commercial molds in feature television works.
Five episodes summarize the tragedy of society
The work presents the story of a middle-class Syrian family facing the repertoire of arrest, emigration, and poverty, before reaching the climax of events with the fall of the defunct regime, the victory of the revolution, and the return of hope to family members who were exhausted by years of waiting.
The title of the work carries a symbolic connotation, as "Today" refers to many years of suffering, while "Shui" symbolizes the few hours that changed the fate of Syrians and restored to them the dream of freedom and reunion
The workshops highlighted realistic and painful scenarios experienced by Syrians, including detention files, the harshness of migration, and the pressures of extreme poverty, before the events at their conclusion flowed towards areas of optimism, holding on to hope, and resurrecting after many years of continuous human suffering.
A unique combination of behind-the-camera and behind-the-scenes art
The work included a group of Syrian artists who embodied complex roles, led by the capable artist Jamal Al-Ali, the star Yara Sabri, along with Farah Al-Dibat and Tim Hinnawi, while the work carried the signature of Yaman Antebli in the script, dialogue and direction.
Established in the United States in 1979, The Telly Awards are one of the most respected and highly regarded awards for visual content, digital and television production around the world, with thousands of works from major international networks and agencies competing for it every year.
