The Syrian Development Fund: The "Khayat" family donated $25 million

The Syrian Development Fund (SDF) announced that it has received the full value of the largest financial pledge recorded on the donor lists since its inception, amounting to $25 million.

In an official letter, the Fund sent a message of thanks and appreciation to the "Al-Khayat" family, considering that their commitment to fulfilling their pledges reflects their keenness to advance the country and contributes to enabling the Fund to launch its first package of programs and initiatives.

In its statement, the IMF stressed that this step goes beyond the concept of "financial fulfillment" to be "a message of confidence and belief in the ability of Syrians to build a future worthy of them," noting that these amounts will be transferred to development projects in the near future.

The Fund: We have nothing to do with donation campaigns in the governorates

In a statement published on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Syrian Development Fund denied that it had any connection to the donation campaigns organized in a number of governorates at the end of 2025, the latest of which was the "Aleppo Six Everything" campaign, stressing that it does not fall within the Fund's activities or financial resources.

The Fund explained that its main resources came from donations made during its official launch, in addition to a number of subsequent individual donations,  stressing that it is not associated with any committees or fundraising campaigns that took place before or after that date,  and that all data related to donations are presented on its website with full transparency.

What is the Syrian Development Fund?

The Syrian Development Fund was established by Decree No. 112 of 2025 as an institution of an economic nature with legal personality and financial and administrative independence, and is directly linked to the Presidency of the Syrian Republic, which is based in Damascus.

The Fund defines itself through its official identifiers as "a national economic institution concerned with the project of rebuilding Syria and a prosperous future for all Syrians , and dedicating its efforts to leading the sustainable development process in the country."

The Fund's main objective is to return displaced people to their homes and end the suffering of camps inside Syria, as  confirmed by those in charge of the fund during its launch ceremony on September 4, 2025, by rehabilitating 50,000 housing units to resettle 7 million displaced people, and facilitating the return of 6 million refugees with dignity.

The Fund's financial resources rely on a diverse structure to ensure its sustainability, including individual donations from Syrians inside the country and in the diaspora, and the Permanent Donor Program, which provides fixed monthly subscriptions to ensure the flow of liquidity for long-term projects, and donations and subsidies provided in accordance with the laws and regulations in force to enhance the financial solvency of the Fund.
