The secrets of the war are being revealed.. the undeclared US-Iranian losses are very heavy

Iranian   attacks against US military bases in the Middle East since the outbreak of the confrontation on February 28, 2026, have caused "much wider damage than has been publicly acknowledged," NBC News revealed, citing informed sources.

According to the report, the official narrative did not reflect the true scale of the destruction, which was described as "much more severe," as it is estimated that repairs and rehabilitation could require huge budgets estimated at billions of dollars.

Targeting strategic and sensitive facilities

The report explained that the Iranian strikes targeted dozens of sensitive military sites inside US bases, and the damage included the following:

Weapons depots and command and control headquarters.

  Satellite communication infrastructure.

 Advanced airstrips and radar systems.

A number of military aircraft lurking at the bases were damaged.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) declined to comment on combat damage assessments, while the Pentagon has not yet disclosed exact details about the extent of human or material losses.

Anger in Congress and questions of feasibility

The network quoted congressional officials, particularly Republican lawmakers, as frustrated by the lack of transparency, with one congressional aide saying, "Nobody knows the truth, we've been asking questions for weeks without getting answers, at a time when the Pentagon is demanding a record defense budget."

Observers believe that the scale of the damage could open a heated political debate about the feasibility of maintaining military bases close to Iran's missile range, while the Times newspaper pointed to the Pentagon's failure to adapt to the "drone war," stressing that Washington finds itself stuck in an "endless war" against a regular state for the first time in decades.

Losses in Iran

On the other hand, Iran is suffering from massive devastation from the joint US-Israeli attacks that began on February 28  and resulted in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military commanders.

The most prominent features of Iranian losses focused on  the damage or destruction of more than 7,600 buildings, including health, education, and housing facilities, especially in the capital, Tehran, as a result of the overlap of residential areas with military sites.

The Iranian government estimated the losses at about $270 billion, a figure roughly equivalent to the country's gross domestic product, with  inflation expected to rise above 70 percent, amid warnings of worsening poverty and job losses as a result of the shutdown of vital facilities.

Context of the confrontation

It is noteworthy that the conflict exploded after joint attacks targeting the Iranian depths, to which Tehran responded with intensive waves of missiles and drones targeting Israel and US interests, in parallel with the imposition of strict measures on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, putting the global economy to the test.
