The Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams responded to the families affected by the flooding of the Khabur River in Al-Hasakah.

The chairman of the board of directors of the Crescent branch in al-Hasakah province, Khader Mutlaq al-Zaher, told Syria News that the response included evacuating a number of families living on the riverbed whose homes were damaged to safer areas, and assessing their humanitarian needs.

 

He stressed that the Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams in Al-Hasakah were present throughout the night in the neighborhoods of Ghuwayran, Nashwa, Meridian and Dulab Al-Owais, and the response is still ongoing in support of the families affected by the flooding of the Khabur River, as the volunteers provided relief materials during the day (mattresses, blankets, sanitary basket, carpet, water bucket, solar energy charger) to each of the affected families in the Meridian neighborhood in Hasakah, with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

 

Safe Spaces field teams from Syria Al-Yamamah Foundation worked in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to provide necessary medical services, in addition to psychological support sessions to support women and families and alleviate the effects of trauma and psychological stress.

 

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Mohammed Saeed Al-Khasr, said that the response included the distribution of winter supplies such as blankets to provide warmth, in addition to the distribution of lights that help families overcome the darkness of the night, in addition to dignity bags that meet the basic needs of women, stressing that the Foundation's volunteers continue to work to reach everyone in need, because standing by people in their most difficult moments is our humanitarian responsibility.

 

Two days ago, the Directorate of Water Resources in the governorate issued an alarm to residents living on both banks of the Khabur River to be cautious and cautious of the flooding of the Khabur River.

 

As a result of the floods and floods that were formed due to the heavy rains witnessed in the province, a one-year-old girl died, and her father was injured, as a result of the collapse of the room in which they live on the Ambara road near Qamishli, north of Al-Hasakah.

 

Several buildings collapsed and the entire water on both banks of the Khabur River was completely flooded, and in the far northeast of Syria, the pontoon bridge at the Simalka border crossing with northern Iraq was put out of service due to the rising water level in the Tigris River.
