Ahmed Al-Hilali, spokesman for the presidential team tasked with following up on the implementation of the January 29 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF, confirmed that the team is following with great interest the recent developments related to the attack on the Syrian Arab Republic flag in the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), and the subsequent violations against civilians in a number of areas, especially in Afrin and Qamishli.
Al-Hilali said in a statement that the team unequivocally condemns any attack on national symbols and the attack on the internal security headquarters in Qamishli.
Al-Hilali stressed the rejection of any acts of reprisals or attacks on civilians under any pretext, stressing that only the state, through its security and judicial institutions, is the body authorized to enforce the law and hold violators accountable.
He called on the people in various regions to remain calm, exercise restraint and not be dragged into strife, pointing out that the process of integration and strengthening state institutions is ongoing and will not be affected by these incidents.
Al-Hilali concluded by stressing the need to prevail over wisdom, maintain stability and promote national convergence at this sensitive stage.
On Saturday, elements linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attacked an internal security headquarters in Qamishli, causingwidespread security tension in the city, as this attack is one of the most prominent incidents that increased the sensitivity of the scene, given that the targeted headquarters is part of the local security structure that operates within joint arrangements in the area.
