
The Ministry of Interior reveals the final investigations into the July 7 bombing

The Ministry of Interior has officially confirmed the responsibility of the Islamic State for the twin bombings in the Victoria area of central Damascus, or what is known as the "July 7" bombing, which coincided with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to the country.
In a statement published on Monday (July 13th) on its official IDs, the ministry said, "Following up on the ongoing investigations with the recently arrested members of the terrorist cell, the results of the investigations, supported by the analysis of surveillance camera recordings and the confessions of the detainees, proved their responsibility for the terrorist bombing that was carried out on July 7.
The ministry added that the detainees are Diaa Shaker al-Qassim, Abdullah Younis al-Jubouri and Mohammed Asaad Mohammed, stressing that investigations proved that they belong to the "Islamic State group" and are "involved in planning to carry out terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing security and stability and spreading chaos among citizens".
"Investigations are still ongoing to uncover all those involved and collaborators with the cell, in preparation for referring them to the competent judiciary and taking the necessary legal measures against them," the ministry said.
The ministry concluded its statement by saying that it will deal firmly with anyone proven to be involved in any terrorist act, planning, support or execution, and that the hand of justice will reach all those involved, and there will be no leniency or impunity.
The Ministry of Interior announces the arrest of the perpetrators of the July 7 bombing
On Friday (July 10th), the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of all members of the cell responsible for the July 7 bombings in the Victoria area of Damascus after a series of simultaneous raids in Damascus and its countryside.
According to what the ministry published at the time, the General Intelligence Service participated in coordinating the security operation, which included the cell's positions in the areas of al-Qataifa, Sayyida Zainab, the suburb of Qudsiya and Ish al-Warur.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed the continuation of investigations with the detainees to reveal the full details of the terrorist plot and the cell's connections, in preparation for presenting their identities and roles to the public.
July 7 bombing killed, 36 injured
Interior Minister Anas Khattab announced on his account on the "X" platform that all the members of the cell responsible for the terrorist bombings are now in the hands of the security services.

Coinciding with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday morning, July 7, Damascus witnessed a double explosion with two improvised explosive devices near the Ministry of Tourism, killing one person and wounding 36, in a final toll announced by the Ministry of Health.
