The ministry said in a statement published on its official IDs that the operation was carried out through a series of simultaneous raids that included the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Tartous and Latakia, and resulted in "the dismantling of an organized cell affiliated with the Hezbollah militia, whose members were found to have infiltrated Syrian territory after receiving intensive specialized training in Lebanon.

According to preliminary investigations, the cell was preparing to carry  out "a subversive agenda that includes systematic assassinations targeting senior government figures, as part of a broader plan to undermine internal stability", the ministry  said.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that the success of these operations comes within its "approach to protecting the security of the homeland, safeguarding the safety of citizens, and firmly confronting any threat to public stability."

During the raids, the specialized units seized "an integrated arsenal of military equipment in the possession of the cell's members, including explosive devices ready to be detonated, RPG launchers  with their fillings, automatic rifles, and quantities of hand grenades and various ammunition," according to the ministry's statement.

The ministry pointed out that  "monitoring equipment and technical support including specialized binoculars and cameras" were found, indicating that the cell was in an "advanced stage of readiness to implement its plan", as it put it.
