The "Israeli occupation" infiltrates the countryside of Daraa and targets civilians with bullets and bombs

On Friday morning, July 17, the Israeli occupation forces infiltrated the vicinity of the village of Abdeen, located in the area of the Yarmouk Basin in the western countryside of Daraa governorate, in conjunction with intimidation practices targeting the local population and their property.

Media and local sources in Daraa revealed that a force of the occupation army, consisting of four military vehicles and a bulldozer, stormed the village and removed  the stone berms placed by the residents to close the road leading to the Al-Ardeh area, where the occupation deliberately erects a temporary military checkpoint in that area repeatedly.

The sources confirmed that the Israeli incursion was accompanied by an intensive flight of three drones that threw stun grenades on the secondary road connecting the towns of Al-Ardeh and Ma'ariyya, in addition to throwing a bomb near the gatherings of the residents who tried to counter the incursion and close the "Maariyat-Abdeen" road with stones, which resulted in a state of extreme panic and tension without recording any injuries or material damage.

The Launch of Force and the Continuous Targeting of Civilians

Field reports indicated that the invading Israeli force set  off from the Jazeera barracks located on the outskirts of the village of Ma'ariyya, which has been occupied by Israeli forces since the end of 2024.

Field correspondents said that the occupation forces continued their movement from the town of Maariyah towards the town of Abdeen to the area of Al-Ardeh, before later withdrawing through the same side road under heavy cover of firing live bullets at the houses of civilians and residents, to intimidate the residents of the area and prevent them from approaching the path of the departing vehicles.

Local sources revealed that this attack comes as an extension of a series of ongoing violations, as the occupation forces stationed in the Al-Jazeera barracks fired their machine guns yesterday towards the homes of the residents in the village of Ma'ariyya, in addition to a previous incursion last Tuesday that resulted in material damage to civilian property, which prompted the residents to close the roads with stones as an expression of their rejection of the occupation before the Israeli bulldozers reopened them today.

Ongoing violations of the disengagement agreement

Israel continues to  violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through its repeated incursions into the areas of southern Syria, and its systematic attacks on civilians through raids, razing agricultural lands, and firing shells and bullets.

Syria has  consistently reiterated its demands for the Israeli occupation to withdraw from all its territories, stressing that all measures and practices taken by the Zionist entity in the occupied territories are null and void and have no legal effect under the provisions of international law and United Nations resolutions.

  The Syrian official circles also called on the international community and UN organizations to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities, and to take immediate action to oblige the Israeli entity to stop its violations and withdraw completely from the territories of southern Syria.
