The Israeli occupation infiltrates Sidon, the Golan and Al-Maqraz, south of Quneitra

On Wednesday,  June 10, three Israeli occupation army vehicles infiltrated the road connecting the villages of Saida Al-Golan and Al-Maqraz in the southern countryside of Quneitra, where they established a temporary checkpoint.

Local sources told "Syrian News" that about 15 members of the Israeli forces deployed in the vicinity of the checkpoint, and stopped a number of buses and vehicles passing on the road, before subjecting them to inspection.

It added that the checkpoint agents checked the ID cards of passengers and drivers, without receiving information about the registration of arrests, and the sources explained that the checkpoint is still in place until the moment of writing this news.

This incursion comes a day after the occupation forces arrested a young man in the farm of um al-Luqs in the southern countryside of Quneitra, and detained him for hours before releasing him later, according to SANA.

5 citizens detained in Quneitra within 48 hours

On Tuesday, June 9, a patrol affiliated with the Israeli occupation kidnapped a young man during its raid last night. Um al-Luqs planted south of Quneitra before withdrawing.

One day earlier,  the Israeli occupying forces detained 4 children from the town of Al-Rafid, west of Quneitra, while they were grazing sheep, beating them and confiscating their phones, before handcuffing them with plastic ties and releasing them near the town, where a  passerby found them and helped them return to their families.

Resumption of work on the "Sofa 53" project

At the same time, local sources reported  that the Israeli occupation forces resumed, on Wednesday, work on the "Suva 53" project in the central countryside of Quneitra, using ten mechanisms to lift earthen berms within the project.

The sources explained that the works come as a continuation of the plan to build a military road inside the buffer zone, which extends along the occupied Syrian Golan.

About 6 months before the fall of the former regime, the Israeli occupation forces established trenches and earthen berms along the barbed wire from north to south from the western side, within the buffer zone, with the aim of establishing a military road that would serve their movements in the area.

The project is part of a military expansion along the border strip with the occupied Golan, and aims to facilitate the movement of military vehicles within Syrian territory near the border.

Work on the road began in mid-2022, with the entry of an Israeli military force into Syrian territory, including 6 Merkava tanks and two military bulldozers, accompanied by a number of soldiers to monitor the border and vehicles, according to local correspondents in Quneitra governorate.

The depth of work inside Syrian territory is at least about 100 meters, while in some areas it reaches a depth of one kilometer, where bulldozers are paving the road and bulldozing land along the route.
