
The fourth "return" convoys.1200 families of displaced people in Afrin leave Al-Hasakah

The concerned authorities in the Syrian government continue their intensive efforts to organize voluntary return trips for displaced families from Al-Hasakah governorate to their areas of origin.
Today, Saturday, May 9, 2026, the fourth convoy of displaced people from the Afrin region in the northern countryside of Aleppo set off, heading from the city of Al-Hasakah towards their villages and homes, and this step comes in implementation of the government's strategy to end the file of displacement and displacement as soon as possible.
Comprehensive logistics and security protection
Mustafa Abdi, a member of the presidential team, confirmed to Syria News that the current convoy includes about 1200 families, and is being conducted under the direct auspices of the presidential team and with the support of the internal security forces in the provinces of Al-Hasakah and Aleppo to ensure the necessary protection during the return journey.
Abdi pointed out that the Ministry of Emergency and Disasters has provided all medical and logistical supplies and basic services to the returning families, in order to ensure that their emergency needs are met throughout the process.
Abdi explained that this move is a continuation of the January 29 agreement, as the presidential team has already organized three previous trips during the months of March and April.
He said: "With the arrival of this batch, the total number of families who have returned to Afrin and the surrounding villages will rise to about 2600 families, as the previous trips included convoys that set off from Al-Hasakah and Qamishli and included varying numbers of families eager to return."
Abdi added that the presidential team, in cooperation with all relevant authorities, had previously organized 3 previous trips to return the displaced people of Afrin from Al-Hasakah province to their original areas, during the months of March and April, which raised the number of families returning to Afrin and its surrounding villages to about 2600 families.
"A return with dignity and pride." Impressions of returning families
An atmosphere of joy and relief prevailed among the families participating in the convoy after nearly 10 years of alienation and displacement, and the returnees expressed their thanks to the government agencies that provided them with a safe and dignified way to return to their fields and homes.
Mrs. Zahra Sabri confirmed to Syria News: She is very happy to join this convoy that set off from Al-Hasakah to Afrin, asking, is it not enough to have 9 years of alienation and displacement away from our homes, families and fields?
In this context, Rizan Allou thanked the concerned authorities in the Syrian government who secured the return of this batch of displaced and displaced families from Al-Hasakah to their homes in the Afrin region and its villages. He wished to work to return all displaced and displaced families to their original areas.
For his part, the citizen Sarbast Aziz pointed out that the return with dignity to the original residential areas is the supreme demand that has been achieved today, and Aziz said : It is enough that the concerned authorities in the Syrian government have secured a safe return to our original areas of residence with dignity and pride.
The sequence of return convoys since the start of the agreement
The first convoys for the return of displaced families from Al-Hasakah province to their original areas in the Afrin region and its villages in the eastern countryside of Aleppo province were launched after the January 29 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF at the beginning of last March, and the convoy included 400 families at the time after years of displacement in Al-Hasakah province.
At the beginning of April, the second convoy set off from the city of Qamishli, north of al-Hasakah, with about 200 families displaced from Afrin on board. The third convoy set off on April 14 from the city of Al-Hasakah, and includes 800 families from the people of Afrin and its villages.
The fourth convoy is today, Saturday, May 8, 2026, and it is the largest in number, and includes 1200 families from the displaced people of Afrin and its villages.
