The European Union on the anniversary of the Syrian revolution: March 18 is a memory that is present in the conscience of Syrians

The Chargé d'affaires of the European Union Delegation in Syria, Mikhail Unmacht, stressed that March 18 is not just a date, but a memory that is present in the hearts of Syrians, with its pain and hope at the same time.

"Today we reaffirm our support for the peace process in Syria, and for building a better future for all," Unmacht said on the X platform today on the occasion of the anniversary of the start of the Syrian revolution.

He added: "March 18, 2011, is a date engraved in the memory of all Syrians, from Daraa, the Syrian revolution began, and Syria lived through years of destruction, loss of loved ones and migration, but today we raise our voices together for peace and hope, the European Union stands by you."

The Syrian revolution, which began on March 18, 2011, was an expression of the people's anger and rejection of decades of oppression, corruption, and tyranny under the old regime.

Despite the heavy years that Syrians lived between arrest, murder and displacement, the spirit of the revolution remained present in their hearts, until their sacrifices culminated in the declaration of victory and liberation on December 8, 2024.
