The drama "The Way of Return" embodies the suffering of the Syrian camps

The General Corporation for Television and Radio Production announced the launch of its new drama seven, "The Way of Return" soon, in its first production since December 2024, confirming on its official Facebook page that the work will be in touch with the lived reality, and a reflection of the pulse of life with honest stories, in reference to its orientation towards presenting a dramatic narrative based on the real experience of Syrians in the camps.
A drama that restores the Syrian memory from the heart of the camp
Directed by Fadi Wafai and written by Suleiman Abdel Aziz, the sabaya stars a number of Syrian artists, including: Rozina Latakani, Reem Ali, Mohamed Hadaki, Joan Khader, Ramez Al-Aswad, Firas Ibrahim, Nawar Bulbul, Zamil Al-Zamil, Yasser Al-Bahar, Bilal Kattan, Reem Koussa, Ahmed Al-Rifai, and Firas Dakak.
The work marks a strong return to Syrian social drama, by addressing the stories of the camps as part of the collective memory of Syrians, and a place where stories of loss, resilience and the search for justice were formed.
Action Mission: Victory Starts from the Camp
The author Suleiman Abdel Aziz considered that the title "The Way of Return" carries a clear symbolic connotation of the importance of returning to the camp and its suffering, and that the camp will be the starting point towards the victory of the Syrian revolution and the victory of the oppressed, as the seven focuses on the main figures living inside the camp, and how they were able to adapt and integrate despite the harsh conditions, to give birth to a generation that believes that victory comes from there.
Abdel Aziz pointed out that the work seeks to present an honest drama that reflects reality as it is, away from beauty or direct political discourse, as the work deals with multiple dramatic lines, such as daily life inside the camp, and human relations that arose in light of fear and waiting.
Constant adjustments to ensure credibility
The writer revealed that the seven-piece underwent several modifications during the writing, in an attempt to reach the most honest version, explaining that every new information he heard from the people of the camps pushed him to rewrite the scenes.
Abdel Aziz stressed that 7 episodes are not enough to do justice to the suffering of the people of the camps, and that he wishes to write a work of 30 episodes that delves into the details of the human experience of the camps, revealing that he was previously working on a project entitled "The Owners of the Canyon", which consists of two parts, one about Branch 215 and the other about the camp, but today he plans to write an expanded drama text about the camps in more detail.
The Television and Radio Production Corporation regains its presence
The General Corporation for Television and Radio Production is regaining its presence as one of the producers of national drama in Syria, after a long period of decline during the war years, confirming its prominent role in reviving drama and social production, through the launch of new projects advanced by the drama seven-piece "The Way of Return".
Founded in 2010, the Foundation emphasizes its current orientation towards a return to real-life social drama, presenting works that address Syrian memory, camp issues, loss and refuge, as well as developing image and content quality.
The foundation is important today as part of the process of rebuilding the cultural and media landscape, producing works that reflect the country's social and political transformations, and reshaping the Syrian narrative after the years of war.
