Tehran "mocks" the blockade. "81" ship crosses the Strait of Hormuz

The Speaker of Iran's Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, ridiculed the possibility of the success of the US blockade on his country, pointing to the vastness of Iran's territory, which he said makes it impossible to contain it militarily.

In a post on the "X" platform, Qalibaf sent a letter to the US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, where he converted the geographical distances to US units of measurement "kilometers to miles" specifically for "Pete Hegseth".

The speaker of Iran's parliament joked about the American war generals, saying, "Good luck in blockading a country with this border."

Iran has an area of 1,648,195 square kilometers (about 636,000 square miles), making it the seventeenth largest country in the world by area.

The irony comes as the Pentagon insists on implementing a maritime "economic embargo," while military experts see a complete blockade of a country of such a rugged geographical and mountainous terrain as a "logistical nightmare."

81 ships break the blockade

In this context, an analysis of navigational data revealed that 81 ships out of 145 that tried to cross the Strait of Hormuz have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz in violation of the US decision since the start of the blockade on ships linked to Iranian ports on April 13  , which represents about 56% of the transit traffic since the US decision came into effect.

The analysis of data from the Marine Traffic platform indicates that 53 ships in violation of the US decision crossed the Strait of Hormuz coming to or going to and from Iranian ports, or flying the Iranian flag, including 11 ships on the US sanctions lists, and 28 other ships crossed the strait on sanctions lists, and not linked to Iranian ports, bringing the total number of violating ships to 78 ships since the start of the implementation of the US blockade.

Only 11 ships failed to cross

The data reveals that 11 ships failed to cross the strait during the same period, operated by companies based in China, India, Pakistan and Turkey.

The analysis relied on monitoring the confirmed movement of ships that activated their tracking device during their transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and  the analysis also shows that ships turned off their signaling device before crossing, which means that the numbers in the analysis are subject to significant increases.

The US Central Command announced that the blockade targets ships entering or leaving Iranian ports, but does not include ships passing between non-Iranian ports through the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has mobilized at least 15 ships, including an aircraft carrier and 11 destroyers, in the Middle East, CNN reported, citing a U.S. official.

However, tracking data during the first 24 hours of the implementation of the resolution reveals that Iran did not pay attention to the US decision, as 5 ships flew the Iranian flag while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, while 6 other ships were linked to Iranian ports, either departing from or heading to Iranian ports.

While the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the diversion of 39 violating vessels, tracking data reveals that 50 ships left the Strait of Hormuz heading to or from Iranian ports.

The analysis indicates that the ships that violated the US decision varied in their tonnage, as they included 36 ships transporting goods and containers, 11 ships transporting bulk cargo, and 6 oil tankers.

April 28 The Biggest Movement

On April 28, the largest movement of ships crossing the strait in violation of the US decision was recorded with 10 ships crossing the strait in both directions, which clearly indicates the increase in the crossing of Iranian ships in light of the escalating US threats.

The US military had previously announced the interception of the oil tanker TIFFANY in the Indian Ocean, claiming that it was carrying two million barrels of oil loaded from Iran's Khark Island.

The army also intercepted the Iranian-flagged container ship TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, about 47 km from the Iranian coast.

According to the latest developments in the strait, US President Donald Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz on his social media account "Truth Social", referring to it as the "Strait of Trump".

Iranian President Masoud Bezshakian said any attempt to impose a naval blockade or restrictions that contravene international law was doomed to failure.
