Syrian Petroleum: Allowing gas station owners to pay the value of oil derivatives in Syrian pounds

The company stated in a statement published today on its official IDs, that this measure comes in the context of facilitating work procedures for station owners, alleviating the challenges of securing foreign exchange, and aims to ensure the stability of the hydrocarbon market and ease the burden on gas station owners, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy, the Central Bank of Syria, and the concerned authorities.

The Syrian Petroleum Company also stressed its keenness to take all necessary measures to ensure the stability of supplies and meet the needs of the local market.

On Tuesday, Damascus witnessed a protest organized by a number of gas station owners in front of the Ministry of Energy, in which they expressed their displeasure with the previous circulars, which stipulate that the value of oil derivatives be paid in US dollars through the Central Bank, while selling to citizens continues in Syrian pounds.
