Syrian army repels drone attack near Iraqi border

The Syrian Arab Army's Operations Directorate reported that a number of drones launched a large-scale attack at dawn today targeting several military bases near the Iraqi border.
The statement explained that the army units were able to confront most of the planes and shoot them down before they achieved their objectives, stressing that the air defenses dealt with the attack with high efficiency.
The military command is "following up on the assessment of the situation on the ground and examining the options available for response," the commission added, stressing that the army will "take appropriate measures to neutralize any potential threat and ensure that any aggression on Syrian territory is prevented."
The armed forces continue their commitment to protect national sovereignty and confront any attempts aimed at destabilizing or undermining national security, she said, noting that the response will be calculated to achieve deterrence and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
