Syrian Air settles controversy over flights from Aleppo airport

The Syrian Airways Corporation issued an explanatory statement on Wednesday, in which it resolved the controversy raised about the nature of the recent flights departing from Aleppo International Airport, stressing that they are completely "new exceptional flights" and are not considered a substitute for flights that were previously canceled within the usual schedules.

Ensuring Passengers' Rights and Refund Mechanism

As part of its keenness to protect the rights of passengers affected by previous cancellations, the airline clarified that any passenger whose flight was previously canceled can get a full refund of his ticket according to the approved procedures. The airline has also provided an additional option of using the value of prepaid tickets to reserve seats on new flights, with the passenger bearing the difference if any.

Why did prices go up?

Regarding the questions related to the recent increase in travel costs, the company indicated that the prices of exceptional flights differ from the scheduled due to several compelling operational reasons, most notably:

Route changes: Adopt longer flight paths during the current phase.

Time and Cost: Increased flight hours directly increase fuel consumption.

Shipping Fees: The high operational fees associated with the current conditions of airports and transits.

Syrian Air confirmed that the pricing of these flights was based on the actual cost of operation, in order to ensure the continuity of air connectivity and provide minimal services to passengers under the current circumstances.

Aleppo International Airport recently resumed a number of flights to regional destinations, in a move aimed at easing travel pressure and facilitating the movement of citizens.
