Syria's natural resources are  the vital reservoir of energy

restoration of the Syrian state's control over the Jazira regions (Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor) in early 2026 has shaped a strategic shift in the Syrian economy, as it represents a "vital reservoir" of natural and food resources.

As for the oil and gas wealth, most of which are concentrated in the east and northeast of Syria

, we will learn about the most important oil and gas fields that have been recovered:

1- Al-Omar Field – Deir Ezzor

It is the largest oil field in Syria in terms of production capacity before 2011, with a production of 80,000 barrels per day and the backbone of Syria's oil exports, but now produces 20,000 barrels per day, according to Global Energy Monitor.

2- Al-Tank Field – Deir Ezzor

A major field in the Euphrates oil basin east of Deir Ezzor, which used to produce 40,000 barrels per day in 2011 and today produces 1,000 barrels, and is classified as a medium-sized field with relatively light oil.

3- Conico Gas Field

A gas field that produced 13 million cubic meters per day in 2011 is now discontinued.
4- Al Taym Field

It is located southeast of the city of Deir Ezzor, it used to produce 50,000 barrels per day in 2011 and today it produces 2,500 barrels per day, and it is one of the fields that support local production and not one of the large fields.

5. Al-Suwaidiyah field – Al-Hasakah

The Suwaidiya oil field is located in the city of Suwaydiya, located in the Al-Malikiyah area in Al-Hasakah governorate, and it is one of the most important and oldest oil fields discovered in Syria, and its production in 2011 reached about 116 thousand barrels per day, and its current production is 7 thousand barrels, according to Global Energy Monitor.

6- Rumailan fields - Al-Hasakah:  It was producing 116 thousand barrels per day in 2011and is currently producing 7 thousand barrels per day.

In addition to the Yarubiya (formerly Tal Adas) and Jabsa fields in Al-Hasakah.

7- Al-Shaer field: It is one of the most important natural gas sites in Syria, and it is located in the northwest of the city of Palmyra
. The field contains more than 30 billion cubic meters of reserves The field primarily produces non-associated gas, which means it is extracted independently of oil production.

In addition to the Al-Jahar field in the Palmyra region in central Syria.

Syria's peak oil production in 1996 was more than 582,000 barrels per day, according to The Washington Institute.

Natural gas production reached 30 million cubic meters in 2010 .
