The management of the Syrian men's football team announced the confirmation of a friendly match with the Bahrain national team, within the upcoming international break.
The two teams are scheduled to meet on June 9, in the Turkish city of Antalya.
A friendly match with the Belarus national team next June
The Syrian Arab Football Federation recently announced that the Syrian national men's national team will play a friendly football match against its Belarusian counterpart, on June 5 in the Belarusian capital, Minsk.
This match comes within the international days of "FIFA", and within the framework of the Syrian team's preparation program for the upcoming qualifiers, where the technical staff led by the Spaniard Jose Lana seeks to test the readiness of the players, raise the level of technical and physical harmony, and increase contact with various European football schools.
Syria's first team recently concluded its participation in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, achieving positive results that put it on the right track for the desired technical development.
It is noteworthy that the last match between the two teams was in November 2022, and it ended in favor of the Belarusian team with a goal without reply.
Infantino: Full support for Syrian football
FIFA President Gianni Infantino held a meeting with the Syrian Football Federation delegation, headed by the President of the Federation, Firas Tate, on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress in Canada on April 29.
During the meeting, Firas Tate extended an official invitation to Infantino to visit Syria, after reviewing an integrated file on the extent of the damage caused to sports facilities over the past years, and the urgent need to support FIFA in rehabilitating stadiums and infrastructures and developing the various joints of the game.
For his part, Infantino stressed the keenness of the International Federation to provide full support to the Syrian Federation, including the development of stadiums, the promotion of local competitions and attention to age groups, announcing his intention to visit Syria in the coming period.
Infantino also announced the approval of the International Federation to start the project to support Syrian football in the field of infrastructure, in addition to working to accelerate the lifting of the ban on Syrian stadiums as quickly as possible, provided that the foundation stone and the official announcement of the project will be laid during Infantino's upcoming visit to Syria, after the end of the 2026 World Cup.
