
Syria condemns Israeli aggression against Lebanon and calls for ceasefire

Syria on Wednesday condemned the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which led to dozens of deaths and injuries, in clear violation of international and humanitarian law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and full compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions, in order to ensure the protection of civilians and respect for the sovereignty of states.
The ministry called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in confronting the violations, noting that it renews Syria's full solidarity with Lebanon and its support for the efforts of the Lebanese government to extend its control over its entire territory and limit weapons to the state.
The number of victims of Israeli air strikes on several areas in Lebanon today has risen to 254 dead and 1,165 wounded, Lebanon's General Directorate of Civil Defense announced.
The Lebanese Presidency condemned the attacks by the Israeli occupation aircraft, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop them and put an end to this approach that threatens security and stability in the region.
