During a phone call on Thursday, Minister of Energy Mohammed al-Bashir discussed with Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, in order to achieve common interests and serve the two brotherly peoples.

During the call, they praised the joint and concerted efforts to start exporting Iraqi oil through Syrian territory, in addition to discussing the possibility of supplying domestic gas to Syria within the framework of enhancing energy security and meeting local needs.

The call discussed the rehabilitation of oil pipelines, especially the Kirkuk-Baniyas pipeline, in order to contribute to the development and enhancement of the oil export process.

The Iraqi Oil Minister stressed that this cooperation will continue in a sustainable manner and will not be linked to the current circumstances or the current war, stressing his country's keenness to develop bilateral relations in this vital field.

The first batches of Iraqi fuel arrived at the tanks of the Banias refinery through the Al-Tanf border crossing, in preparation for their export to international markets, where the teams of the Syrian Petroleum Company began unloading operations, in preparation for preparing the shipments and reloading them on sea tankers designated to transport them to their final export destination.
