"Surplus" behind closed doors. The cry of the agricultural research staff in Kenitra

At a time when workers are waiting for a glimmer of hope to face the harsh living conditions, 65 employees at the Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Kenitra woke up to the reality of "dispensation", and the employment stability that lasted for years turned into a list of names published on the "WhatsApp" application, announcing the end of their career with a sudden decision.

Between the Balance of Management and the Right to Stability

The issue, which sparked a wave of widespread anger, began by the end of 2025, when the names of dozens of employees fell from the annual contract renewal lists, and while the dismissed employees insist on their rights, confirming that they entered work through official competitions and with accumulated experience for years, the administration's response came  "bureaucratic" par excellence, as the director of the center justified the decision by the existence of  a "surplus in labor", pointing out that the extension of contracts was subject to the criteria of actual need approved by the central authorities.

The Bitter Paradox: Disrupted Experiences and Unrealistic Surplus

The dispute gap is evident in the narrative of employees who see talk of "surplus" in a specialized research sector as an illogical excuse, especially since the center is entirely dependent on technical staff.

One of the affected women summed up the human pain behind the figures, stressing that this separation is not just an administrative measure, but a direct threat to the livelihood of families struggling to secure a living in a province that is already suffering from suffocating economic pressures.

Trade union movements. Do you reinstate rights?

On the other hand, the Quneitra Workers' Union entered the crisis line, trying to absorb the anger and put the issue on the institutional discussion table, concluding that the last meeting of the union concluded:

Rejecting the current version of the resolution and demanding transparent review mechanisms.

Searching for alternatives: Such as redistributing workers to sectors that are in short supply, rather than laying off them.

Central Coordination: Trying to pressure the concerned ministries to reconsider the fate of 65 Family.

Meeting of the dismissed employees with the Northern Region Manager

In light of the previous steps, the concerned authorities rushed to hold a meeting for the dismissed employees headed by the Director of the Northern Region in Quneitra Governorate, Mohammed Al-Saeed, during which their job reality was discussed and issues related to them were discussed in order to find an appropriate solution.
