FC Barcelona is in a prime position in the race to qualify for the 2029 Club World Cup, benefiting from its escalating continental performance in recent seasons, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
Club World Cup regulations stipulate that the champions of the four editions of the Champions League between 2025 and 2028 will have a fixed seat, regardless of their positions in the continental classification.
Two LaLiga clubs will participate in the Club World Cup according to the classification in case no Spanish club wins the title in the next two years.
Barcelona currently occupies the top of Spanish clubs and fourth place in the world rankings with 73 points, thanks to their results in the Champions League during the current and past editions.
The Catalan club is 14 points ahead of Atletico Madrid, which has 59 points, and 16 points ahead of Real Madrid, who have 57 points, knowing that the two poles of Madrid had eliminated Barcelona from participating in the first edition of the Club World Cup under its new system in 2025.
Only three clubs are ahead of Barcelona in the rankings, namely Arsenal with 93 points, Paris Saint-Germain, who have already qualified with 89 points, and Bayern Munich with 77 points.
Arsenal Odds List
Arsenal have ample chances of being one of the two English clubs participating in the Club World Cup, despite failing to clinch a ticket from the Budapest final last Saturday, provided that two other English clubs do not win the Champions League in the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.
Arsenal are 93 points ahead of Liverpool on 60 points, 36 points behind Manchester City and 34 ahead of Aston Villa.
FIFA has not yet determined the host country for the 2029 Club World Cup, but Morocco is growing as a strong candidate to host the event in recent times, especially as it is a co-organizer of the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
