
Security source: 300 police officers will be deployed in Sweida governorate soon

A security source reported that the members of the Syrian Internal Security Forces who graduated in Jordan on Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of a specialized course, will be deployed in the province of Suwayda in southern Syria.
The local website "Sweida 24" quoted private sources as saying that "the graduating batch will go directly to Sweida province to join its service within the internal security forces in the province," without clarifying whether the deployment will be within the city of Sweida or will be limited to the countryside.
Jordan withdraws 300 members of Syrian Internal Security Forces
The Ministry of Interior announced on Friday, May 8, 2026, the graduation of 300 members of the Internal Security Forces, after their rehabilitation and training at one of the Jordanian Public Security Centers in Amman.
The ministry said in a statement published on its official IDs that the Jordanian International Police Training Center witnessed the graduation ceremony of a police preparation and qualification course for 300 members of the Syrian Internal Security Forces at the Syrian Ministry of Interior, explaining that these officers "completed an intensive training program in modern police science and work."
The programme aims to "equip participants with modern police knowledge and skills, and to refine their practical and field capabilities, in order to enhance their professional competence and support their readiness to carry out the tasks entrusted to them", she said.
The ministry considered that this course falls within the "track of joint security cooperation", pointing out that it reflects "the depth of cooperation and coordination between the two sides in the fields of police rehabilitation and training".
Jordan bears the training and material needs of the batch
For its part, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate said in a statement that the training program included specialized courses in modern police sciences and practical training in physical fitness, martial arts and the use of various types of weapons, in order to qualify the elements to carry out their field tasks in accordance with the approved professional standards.
The statement revealed that the Jordanian side has ensured the full training and material needs of the batch, in implementation of royal directives that affirm Jordan's support for regional stabilization efforts and the promotion of joint security work.
Earlier, Syrian News pointed out that the graduation of this batch coincided with reports indicating the possibility of deploying these forces in Sweida province in the coming period, within the framework of arrangements aimed at enhancing stability on the ground and combating extremist cells and smuggling networks, as part of a common vision to rebuild Syrian security institutions on modern professional foundations.
