Saudi Investments Initiative. Laying the foundation stone of the "Abyat Hills" residential project in Damascus countryside

Saudi Arabia's Abyat Investment and Real Estate Development Company announced the laying of the foundation stone of the Abyat Hills project in the suburb of Qudsiya in Damascus countryside today, June 6, 2026, as an opening for Saudi real estate investments in the country.
This mega housing project, in partnership with the Government Housing Corporation, comes as part of a joint plan to develop modern urban communities that support reconstruction efforts and meet the growing need to develop absorption areas capable of keeping pace with population growth and improving the quality of basic services.
2000 housing units on an area of 300 thousand square meters
Eng. Mohamed Hassan Al-Salloum, General Manager of Abyat Investment and Real Estate Development, explained in a statement that the "Abyat Hills" project includes the construction of 2000 housing units of various categories, and it is expected to be fully completed within four years.
According to Al-Salloum, the complex is being built on a total area estimated at about 300 thousand square meters, where the organizational plan adopted a low building percentage not exceeding 30% of the total area, while the remaining 70% was allocated to roads, services, open gardens and green spaces, to secure a self-sufficient neighborhood designed in the form of a closed residential compound (compound) with an integrated security system around the clock.
Versatile and revitalizing components for the operating market
Al-Salloum pointed out that the plans of the project included multi-use service, commercial and investment components to ensure that the complex does not turn into a sleeping suburb only, as the plan includes schools, educational and commercial centers, as well as a two-storey commercial mall and a six-storey tourist hotel, which together form the backbone of investment activity within the area.
Al-Salloum pointed out that this urban orientation will be integrated with the launch of another future project of the company under the name of "Modern Urban Cluster", which will be implemented over a period of ten years, with the aim of consolidating sustainable development and injecting long-term investments in the Syrian construction sector.
The real estate developers confirmed that the construction phase of "Abyat Hills" will provide more than 2000 direct job opportunities during the implementation period, giving the project a vital economic dimension by revitalizing the sectors of building materials, transportation, support services and supply chains, while the "Modern Urban Cluster" project will add about 6000 additional jobs over the next decade.
Despite the official announcement of the start of field work, the developer did not disclose the total value of the investment or the exact distribution of financing between the private developer and the government partner, nor did it issue a detailed schedule showing the stages of handing over the housing units to the beneficiaries.
The Saudi-government partnership puts the real estate market to the real estate market to the real test of the sector's ability to attract foreign capital once again, and turn major housing projects into a real lever to stimulate business activities and generate sustainable jobs in the country.
