resident Al-Shara Performs Eid al-Adha Prayer at Abdullah bin Abbas Mosque in Aleppo

President Ahmad al-Shara performed the blessed Eid al-Adha prayer at the Abdullah bin Abbas Mosque in Aleppo, alongside several state officials and a large public gathering, led by the prominent scholar Sheikh Mutee al-Bateen.
Al-Bateen: Consolidating the Values of Coexistence and Diversity
In his Eid al-Adha sermon, Sheikh Al-Bateen emphasized that optimism is a core value in Islam, serving as a catalyst for action, construction, and resilience against adversity. He stressed that Syria possesses immense potential for revival and stability, driven by the unity of its people, the return of its citizens to participate in reconstruction, and the enhancement of community initiatives. He added that consolidating the values of coexistence and diversity serves as a source of strength and enrichment for all Syrians.
Sheikh Al-Bateen explained that an optimistic person does not live in illusion or detach from reality; rather, they are individuals who work, strive, and trust in Almighty God. He noted that true optimism is always coupled with diligence and effort, refusing to surrender to circumstances regardless of their severity.
Furthermore, Al-Bateen pointed out that steadfastness in doing good and maintaining hope under all conditions is the hallmark of a true believer. He cited the life of Prophet Joseph (peace be upon him), who remained a doer of good while in prison, just as he was when overseeing the treasuries of Egypt, despite the changing circumstances and shifting fortunes.
The Sheikh also highlighted several historical Islamic narratives and milestones that embody the value of optimism and the impact of kind words on human development and nation-building, affirming that these principles remain vital for societies and nations striving for advancement.

The Syrian People are Capable of Overcoming Challenges
Addressing the Syrian reality, Sheikh Al-Bateen reiterated that Syria holds numerous reasons for optimism, asserting that the Syrian people are fully capable of overcoming challenges and rebuilding their homeland.
He noted that the return of Syrian youth from the diaspora and displaced areas to contribute to the country's reconstruction, along with launching voluntary and developmental initiatives, serves as a significant indicator of the spirit of belonging and hope among the nation's children.
He also highlighted, as a major factor for optimism, the presence of a leadership that listens to counsel and embraces all Syrians of various opinions and backgrounds, noting that diversity in Syria is a source of wealth and strength, rather than a cause for dispute and division.
Sheikh Al-Bateen concluded his sermon by reaffirming that Syria—with its history, civilization, and a people capable of work and giving—is moving forward, by God's will, toward revival and stability. He prayed to God Almighty to bestow His blessings and grace upon the country and to grant peace and prosperity to all its people.
Following the prayer, President Al-Shara received Eid al-Adha congratulations and blessings from the congregants.
Notably, President Al-Shara had previously performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer last March at the Qasr al-Shaab (People’s Palace) prayer hall in Damascus, joined by several ministers and officials, alongside a gathering of Islamic scholars and community dignitaries, led by the Minister of Awqaf, Mohammad Abu al-Khair Shukri.
