Real Madrid set €60 million to sell Gonzalo Garcia

Real Madrid's management has set €60 million as a prerequisite for approving the departure of young striker Gonzalo Garcia during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite the great talent shown by the player, the crowd of stars in the front line of the Merengue, led by Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, made his participation in the starting line-up almost impossible, prompting the club to discuss offers made to him.

The clash of European offers

The Spanish newspaper "Ace" revealed that Borussia Dortmund of Germany had made an offer of 30 million euros to sign the striker, nicknamed "The Son of the Academy", but the management of Florentino Pérez immediately rejected the offer, sticking to the sum of 60 million.

This step comes in light of serious interest from Italian clubs, which have inquired about the player since last January, including the "Como" club.

If the deal is completed for the required amount, Gonzalo Garcia will become the second most expensive player to be sold from the La Fabrica academy in the club's history, succeeding Alvaro Morata, who moved to Chelsea in 2017 for €80 million.

This high value reflects the club's confidence in the potential of the player, who was crowned top scorer at the 2025 Club World Cup with 4 goals.

Garcia  has been suffering  from a disparity in performance this season, scoring just 6 goals in 34 appearances (mostly as a substitute) for a total of 1119 minutes.

Analysts attribute the decline in his numbers to his employment in the "winger" position away from the box (his natural habitat), a position he had to occupy to avoid a direct clash with the main stars, which affected his scoring effectiveness that was evident last season.

Coach Xabi Alonso had earlier preferred Garcia to stay and Brazilian Endrik leave for Olympique Lyonnais on loan.

However, the verse was reversed, with Endrick exploding in the French league with a scoring explosion thanks to his continued involvement, while Garcia's market value plummeted as a result of his stay on the bench, prompting management's decision to sell him at the "highest price" before it was too late.
