Real Madrid bid farewell to its stars with a big win ... Barcelona falls to Valencia

Real Madrid wrapped up their La Liga season with a thrilling 4-2 win over Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabéu, in an evening that was exceptional after the club bid farewell to two of its top players.

Dani Carvajal and David Alaba played their last game in the Royals shirt amid moving scenes and warm applause from the fans.

Real Madrid started the game strongly, opening the scoring through Gonzalo Garcia in the 11th minute, before Jude Bellingham added the second goal in the 40th minute after a clear control of the midfield. 

At the start of the second half, Kylian Mbappe extended the score with a third goal in the 50th minute, while Ibrahim Diaz completed the quartet in the 87th minute after a great individual effort.

Athletic Bilbao scored through Gorica Gorozetta (45) and Orico Ezeita (90), but failed to threaten Real Madrid's victory.

A touching farewell to Carvajal and Alaba

After the final whistle, the Bernabéu turned into the scene of rare human moments, as the club bid farewell to its captain Dani Carvajal after a 23-year  career at Real Madrid, during which he won  27 trophies, including five Champions League titles. 

The Austrian fans also bid farewell to David Alaba, who left the club after a successful career during which he won 11 titles.

Players lined up to greet the duo, and fans waved banners of thanks, in a scene that reflected the end of a golden phase in the club's history.

Valencia turn the tables on Barcelona

In another match, Barcelona fell to Valencia 3-1 at the Mestalla Stadium, despite taking the lead first through Robert Lewandowski in the 60th minute, and Valencia responded with a quick hat-trick signed by Gavi Guerra (65) and Luis Rioja (70), which was completed by Guido Rodriguez (90+6).

The match witnessed a  special appearance  by the Polish starRobert Lewandowski, who scored Barcelona's goal, in a  match that carried an emotional character  after he played his last match in the Catalan team's shirt, amid a great fan celebration.

Lewandowski entered Barcelona's history from the widest doors, after joining the list of the top 10 goalscorers in the history of the club, to conclude his career with Barça with a new goal added to his outstanding scoring record  .
