
President Ahmed al-Shara received on Saturday the former head of the Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, according to Lebanese sources.
The office of the Progressive Socialist Party said in a post on its Facebook page: "Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara receives Walid Jumblatt at the People's Palace in Damascus."
Lebanese media, including Al-Jadeed TV, also reported that Jumblatt visited Syria today with Lebanese MP Hadi Abu al-Hassan, where he held a meeting with President Al-Sharia.
Details of the talks that took place during the meeting or the files discussed have not yet been made public.
The Third Visit
This is Jumblatt's third visit to Syria since the fall of the old regime, where President Jumblatt met with Jumblatt at the People's Palace in Damascus on May 2, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani.
Jumblatt was also one of the first figures to visit Damascus, and met with the legitimate president , on December 22, 2024, at the head of a delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party, accompanied by a number of deputies and sheikhs of the Druze community in Lebanon.
On March 7, President Al-Sharaa held a phone call with Jumblatt to discuss the latest developments in light of the rapid developments in the Lebanese and regional arenas, during which the two sides stressed the importance of coordination and interaction between the Lebanese and Syrian governments to confront the dangers facing the region.
