President Al-Sharia receives the head of the Iraqi intelligence service in Damascus

President Ahmed al-Shara received on Wednesday (June 10th) a message from Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, which was conveyed by the head of Iraq's National Intelligence Service, Hamid al-Shatri, during his visit to Damascus today.

In a statement published on its official websites, the Iraqi Council of Ministers said that the letter is related to ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and to raise the level of coordination to face the crises and challenges witnessed in the region in the security and economic fields, in a way that serves common interests.

According to the statement, President Al-Sharia expressed his thanks and appreciation for the positions of Al-Zaidi and the Iraqi government, stressing Syria's commitment to close cooperation with Iraq to face the common challenges posed by the recent events in the region.

President Al-Shara stressed the importance of raising the level of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, especially in the security and economic fields.

President Al-Sharia had a phone call with Al-Zaidi on Wednesday (June 29th), during which he congratulated him on assuming his duties.

At the time, President Al-Sharaa pointed to the strength of relations between Syria and Iraq, stressing the importance of joint work to improve them and enhance areas of cooperation to achieve the interests of the two countries.

During the call, the two sides stressed the need to continue communication and consultation on common issues, in a way that supports stability and serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
