President Al-Sharia receives the credentials of the new Turkish ambassador in Damascus

President Ahmed Al-Sharaa received on Monday the credentials of Ambassador Nuh Yilmaz, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Syrian Arab Republic, during an official ceremony held at the People's Palace in Damascus, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani.

Ankara announced on November 19, 2025, the appointment of Nuh Yilmaz, Deputy Foreign Minister, as its ambassador to Damascus, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved the appointment decree, according to Anadolu Agency.

It is noteworthy that Turkey reopened its embassy in Damascus on December 14,  2025, ending a twelve-year closure against the background of its positions on the practices of the former regime, and Ankara appointed Burhan Kuroglu as chargé d'affaires until a new ambassador is named.
