
President Al-Sharia discusses with his French counterpart the strengthening of cooperation and regional developments

President Ahmed Al-Sharaa received a phone call from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and regional developments.
The two sides reviewed the military escalation in the region and its repercussions on security and stability, stressing the importance of strengthening security and military cooperation and coordination between Syria and France in a way that serves common interests and contributes to supporting stability.
Syrian-French relations after the liberation on December 8, 2024, witnessed a major shift from rupture to cautious openness, culminating intheofficial visit of President Al-Sharia to Paris on May 7, 2025, which was his first to Europe, during which bilateral relations between the two countries, the lifting of sanctions on Syria, reconstruction, security cooperation, and the fight against terrorism were discussed.
