President al-Sharaa issues a decree forming a committee to rehabilitate infrastructure in devastated areas.

 President Ahmed Al-Sharaa issued Decree 59 of 2026 to form a committee to prepare infrastructure in the devastated areas, in a way that contributes to the return of displaced people to them.

The committee is chaired by the Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management and includes the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, the Governor of Aleppo, the Governor of Hama, the Governor of Idlib, and the Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

According to the text of the decree, the committee is responsible for preparing the infrastructure in the destroyed areas in preparation for the return of the people to them, and to carry out all means and works that would raise the level of services for citizens residing in the areas of internal displacement, and to provide them with the necessary support in a way that contributes to alleviating the effects of displacement on them.

The decree also stipulates that the committee shall meet at the invitation of its chairman every fifteen days, and whenever necessary, provided that it shall seek the assistance of whoever it deems appropriate to carry out its work, and shall submit monthly periodic reports on the results of its work to the Presidency of the Republic.
