President Al-Shara: Syria has become the focus of the world's attention

President Ahmed Al-Sharaa stressed today that Syria is pursuing a policy based on building balanced relations with the world, pushing towards the stability of the region and solving problems through dialogue and diplomacy and staying away from conflicts, pointing out that Damascus seeks to be a bridge between countries, and constitutes a promising opportunity for investment and sustainable development.

In a dialogue session within the activities of the fifth session of the Antalya Forum, held in Turkey under the slogan "Dealing with Uncertainty When Shaping the Future", President Al-Shara stressed that Syria is working on reconstruction by promoting investment, indicating that it has become the focus of the world's attention, especially with regard to the security of supply chains between East and West and energy supply. 

Regional Conflict and the Balanced Role

President Al-Shara said that the conflict in the region is not born of the moment, but rather an extended chain throughout history, and that Syria is no longer confined to the options of the major powers, but has become able to stand at the same distance from everyone, and even turn into a bridge between the major countries.

President Al-Shara pointed out that Syria today has balanced relations with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, in addition to advanced relations with the countries of the region such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, stressing that a new history is being drawn for Syria, as it moves from being a mailbox for conflicts to a strategic opportunity to invest in regional security and sustainable economic development.

President Al-Shara pointed out that Syria was subjected to Iran's aggressions in the previous stage, as Tehran supported the old regime by confronting the Syrian people, however, Syria did not engage in the confrontation between Iran on the one hand and the United States and Israel on the other hand, and before the war, it pushed for its cessation in the first place, because it would lead to serious repercussions in the region.

Regarding Lebanon, President Al-Sharaa explained that Syria is affected by what is happening in it, praising the efforts of US President Donald Trump to stop the war, and expressing his hope to move to the stage of reforming the tracks in the region so that wars do not recur again.

Avoiding conflicts

President Al-Sharia said that Syria has been tired over the past years, and the Syrian people have been subjected to migration, displacement, and chemical weapons strikes, in addition to the great destruction, and that avoiding entering into any conflict today is the natural and correct path.

The Golan is Syrian land

In response to a question about the occupied Syrian Golan, President Al-Sharia said that the recognition of Israel's right to the Golan is invalid, because this is the right of the Syrian people, and a country can give up part of its territory if its people agree, but it cannot recognize Israel's right to other people's lands.

He added: "The international community affirms that the Golan is Syrian territory occupied by Israel, and recently 134 countries in the United Nations voted in favor of a resolution confirming that the Golan is Syrian land par excellence and occupied by Israel."

President Al-Shara pointed out that Israel is violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and that work is underway to reach a security agreement that guarantees its withdrawal from the territories it occupied after the fall of the former regime on December 8, 2024, and its return to the 1974 lines, and the establishment of new rules that either reinstate the disengagement agreement or conclude a new agreement that guarantees the security of both parties, pointing out that if reaching an agreement is successful, it may later move to long-term negotiations to resolve the issue The occupied Golan.

SDF's continued integration within the country

Regarding the integration of the SDF into the Syrian state institutions, President Al-Shara explained that the agreement with the SDF has gone through several stages since the March 10, 2025 agreement, and that some parties did not abide by it at first, but the process was gradually completed, pointing out that the Americans were involved in this agreement, and that the last American truck left Syrian territory yesterday.

 

He stressed that northeastern Syria has become devoid of any foreign bases, and that the integration of the SDF forces within state institutions is going well despite some difficulties, and that all parties are pushing towards the unity and stability of the Syrian territory.

Achievements and political path

President Al-Sharaa pointed out that Syrian diplomacy and security services have succeeded in consolidating stability and strengthening Syria's strategic position, as great achievements have been achieved during the past year, most notably the seizure of uncontrolled weapons that were widespread during the years of war, in addition to the decline of the Captagon phenomenon very significantly after Syria was the primary source of it, stressing that these steps contributed to enhancing internal stability and creating a safer environment for investment.

President Al-Sharaa also indicated that Syria has followed a clear path since liberation, starting with filling the political vacuum, the constitutional declaration, working to lift sanctions, and then the People's Assembly elections, pointing out that the Council will hold its first session at the end of this month, and will start drafting the new constitution and legislation related to the post-transitional period.

Investment as an Input to Reconstruction

President Al-Shara stressed that Syria has chosen the investment approach as a basic entrance to reconstruction, as it has amended investment laws and opened the way for projects that provide job opportunities and increase production, pointing out that Syria is trying to rely on itself in the first place, and has not yet received direct aid, but it has signed many memoranda of understanding and investment contracts, and if the aid comes, it should not be politicized or conditional.

President Al-Shara explained that Syria has emerged from the state of conflict to a safe and stable environment that constitutes an investment opportunity, and it has also saved the region by preventing the expansion of some regional countries or using their territories as a platform for launching attacks and destabilization, and has become the focus of the world's attention, especially with regard to the security of supply chains between East and West and energy supplies.

Syria is a safe environment for investment

President Al-Shara pointed out that Syria has great qualifications in the field of energy, the most important of which is its strategic location linking the East and the West, and being historically part of the Silk Road and the Hajj route, in addition to human resources qualified for medium and heavy investments, and it is also an agricultural country, and can form a food basket for the region.

 

Regional Interconnection, Energy and Telecommunications Projects

President Al-Shara pointed out that Syria has started exporting some shipments of Iraqi oil, and many countries are thinking of regional connectivity to export their products through Syrian territory, and there is the Four Seas project that was recently talked about, and an agreement with the Saudi company "STC" to pass the fiber cable through Syria, which will increase the speed of the Internet between East and West by 70 percent, in addition to opening the Syrian airspace to global aviation, which saves time and great costs for airlines, indicating that the world is aware of the importance of Investing in the historical moment in Syria is currently underway, so there is a demand to strengthen relations with it in the interest of the stability of the region and the world, whether in terms of economy or security.

Syria is the title of coexistence

At the end of the session, President Al-Sharaa stressed that Syria throughout history is a title of peaceful coexistence, and today it is restoring its glory and civilization, and working to overcome the strife, crises and isolation it experienced as a result of the policies of the former regime.
