President Al-Shara Issues New Package of Appointments in Security Institutions

President Ahmed al-Sharaa issued a package of new appointments in security institutions, which included a number of leadership positions.

The decisions included  the appointment of Anas Khattab as director of the National Security Bureau, in addition to his duties as interior minister.

The decisions also included the appointment of Hussein al-Salama as assistant director of the National Security Bureau and the appointment of Mulham al-Shantoot as assistant to the Minister of Interior for Security Affairs.

 The decisions also included the appointment of Abdelkader Tahan as head of the General Intelligence Service.

Sources: The new device attracts intellectuals and researchers

Two Syrian security sources recently revealed to the Lebanese website that the Syrian administration is working on diligent preparations to establish a new intelligence agency under the name of the "National Security Bureau".

The two sources said that the function of the office will be limited to following up on issues related to the national security, monitoring any suspicious security movement at the national level, and leading and coordinating security departments, noting that the preparations for the establishment of the office include structuring departments and offices, attracting cadres, and establishing security "data" that includes all security files and national security issues.

The two security sources said that the new apparatus attracts intellectuals, researchers and research assistants with high salaries, in order to benefit from their expertise and form qualified and professional departments, pointing out that many workers in Syrian strategic research centers that were opposed to the Assad regime have joined the office.

The sources revealed that the new members of the office are currently collecting, classifying and archiving information and issues.
