President Al-Shara discusses cooperation relations and regional challenges with his Emirati counterpart

President Ahmed Al-Shara met with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, which he arrived earlier today as part of a Gulf tour that included Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar.

In a statement published on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, on its official identifiers, the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic said that during the meeting, the two presidents reviewed  the cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop them, in addition to strengthening economic partnerships and supporting development efforts in a way that contributes to achieving common interests and enhances stability and prosperity in the region.

During the meeting, which was attended by the foreign ministers of the two countries and a number of senior officials, the two presidents discussed the developments in the security situation and regional challenges, stressing the importance of coordinating efforts to maintain regional security.

President Al-Shara stressed  the Syrian Arab Republic's solidarity with the UAE and the need to respect the sovereignty of states and reject any practices that affect their security and stability, especially in light of the recent Iranian aggressions against the countries of the region.

In a post on the X  platform, President Al-Sharia said: "I met with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where the spaces for joint work have expanded and opportunities for cooperation between the two brotherly countries have grown through broader economic partnerships and support for development efforts, and we discussed regional and international issues of common interest, and I reiterated Syria's stand by the UAE in maintaining its security and stability."

President Al-Sharaa concluded his Gulf tour this evening, where Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani said, "We conclude today a Gulf tour chaired by His Excellency President Ahmed Al-Shara, which included the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

 Al-Shaibani added that the leaders' meetings focused on strengthening the well-established brotherly relations, discussing ways to advance economic development and reconstruction, in addition to affirming our firm position in standing by our brothers and our full solidarity in the face of various threats.
