President Al-Shara apologizes to the people of Deir Ezzor and announces an upcoming visit to the province
President Ahmed Al-Shara made a phone call to the governor of Deir Ezzor, Ziad Al-Ayesh, and a number of dignitaries of the province, offering an official apology on behalf of his father, researcher Hussein Al-Shara, after a wave of discontent sparked by the latter's statements over the past few days.
In the recorded audio recording of the phone call circulated by Syrian and Arab media and platforms, President Al-Sharaa described his father's statements as a "slip of dialogue", stressing that the phrases circulating hurt him personally before injuring the families.
President Al-Sharaa stressed that the people of Deir Ezzor are "our loved ones, our pride and a crown on our heads", referring to their social and national status, announcing that he is "coordinating with the governor to arrange an upcoming visit to the province", in a move described by observers as aimed at calming the atmosphere and enhancing direct communication with the people.
Upcoming development projects to support the governorate
During the call, President Al-Sharaa revealed a package of development arrangements that will be witnessed in Deir Ezzor soon, including vital projects to rebuild and rehabilitate hospitals and destroyed bridges, an infrastructure fund aimed at moving the wheel of the local economy, and a future vision to transform Deir Ezzor into one of the most important economic centers in Syria.
Clarification from the president's father: The clips are fragmented and distorted
For his part, Dr. Hussein Al-Sharaa issued a clarification on his personal Facebook account, in which he confirmed that the clips in circulation were taken out of context through "dubbing and montage", pointing out that his original talk was discussing the gap and previous exclusionary policies between the countryside and the city.
Al-Sharaa explained that he had previously asked the program's producer to delete the controversial part because there was no justification for broadcasting it, stressing that what was published does not reflect his true intention.
The call represents a step aimed at containing the tension witnessed in the province over the past days, and reaffirming the relationship between the state and the people of Deir Ezzor, in light of the sensitivity of the stage the region is going through.
