Parliamentarian Fasla Youssef: I will take the oath of office in Kurdish and Arabic

Syrian People's Assembly member Fasla Youssef revealed that she will wear Kurdish uniforms in the first session of parliament in the capital Damascus, and plans to take the oath of office in Arabic and Kurdish.
This came in Youssef's first statements after she won the parliamentary seat for the district of Al-Hasakah city, during the electoral process that took place on Sunday, and resulted in the victory of 9 candidates for membership of the Syrian People's Assembly from the districts of Al-Hasakah, Qamishli and Ayn al-Arab (Kobani).
In a televised interview on Rudaw TV, Yousef said: "Our first demand and goal is the rights of the Kurdish people. But when we work in a Syrian state institution, we are certainly Kurds and Syrians as well; just as we work for the Kurdish cause, we are working for the whole of Syria."
She added, "We will defend the rights of the Kurdish people, all the Syrian people and all components, so that everyone becomes free and enjoys their rights and role."
8 Kurdish MPs in the People's Assembly
As for the number of members of the People's Assembly from the Kurdish component, which amounted to 8 members from all Syrian regions, Youssef said that despite the small number, they are able to raise the voice of the Kurds in the parliament, noting that they have conducted a kind of coordination and alliance with Arab candidates to ensure their victory in the elections, as she put it.
"We had coordination and understanding with some Arab candidates, we couldn't get votes on our own, so an alliance was formed between us, we voted for their candidates and they voted for us, and the result was good, and there was trust between us," she said.
Youssef explained that the situation in Syria is going through a sensitive stage, and it is likely that there will be a Kurdish representative among the remaining third of the members (70 members) who are scheduled to be appointed by President Ahmed al-Shara.
(PYD) participated in the elections
In response to a question about the lack of agreement or coordination with the Democratic Union Party (PYD) to participate in the parliamentary elections, Yusuf confirmed that the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC), to which she belongs, tried to do so. "We spoke with Mazloum Abdo and said we would make this election an opportunity for the Kurds to have a voice, but unfortunately it was too late and it was too late, so we decided to officially participate in these elections," she said.
She pointed out that the PYD participated in the elections, "some of its candidates may not have come forward from the first row, but there were people who were counted as PYD and applied for the party and supported the party," according to Fassa Youssef.
9 members from Al-Hasakah, Qamishli and Ayn Al-Arab
On Sunday, May 24, the Supreme Committee for the Elections of the People's Assembly announced the victory of 9 candidates for the membership of the Council from the districts of Al-Hasakah, Qamishli and Ain al-Arab, amid an official confirmation of the success of the electoral process and paving the way for the first session of the new Council.
The spokesman of the High Elections Committee said that Farhad Anwar Shaheen and Shawakh Ibrahim Al-Assaf won the membership of the People's Assembly for the Ain al-Arab region, while Kim Hussein Ibrahim, Radwan Othman Sidhu, Abdel Halim Khader al-Ali, and Mahmoud Madi al-Ali won the membership of the council for the Qamishli district, and Ibrahim Mustafa al-Ali, Omar Issa Hayes, and Fassila Yousef won for the al-Hasakah district.
