

The clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle ended in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening, in a decisive match in the final round of the group stage of the Champions League, with both teams coming out with a result described as a "draw with a taste of loss" after missing out on the chance to qualify directly for the round of 1and 6 and had to go to the European play-offs.
Paris is off to a strong start... Dembele squanders golden opportunity
The first minutes of the match witnessed a pivotal moment when Paris Saint-Germain received a penalty in the 4th minute, but Ousmane Dembele wasted it, in a shot that French media considered "the turning point of the match".
Despite Paris' great control of the game, especially in the first half, the team did not succeed in capitalizing on the early opportunities as required.

Vitinha's goal gives Paris the lead... Newcastle respond before the break
Paris Saint-Germain opened the scoring through Vitinha in the 8th minute after a solo effort and a powerful shot found the net, giving the defending champions a significant moral advantage.
But Newcastle came back into the game in first-half stoppage time, when Joe Willock scored the equalizer in the 45+2nd minute, taking advantage of a defensive confusion inside the box, which was a "painful blow to Paris at the worst of times".
With this draw, Paris Saint-Germain finished ninth, while Newcastle finished the stage in twelfth place, so the two teams will head to the European Annex to determine their fate in the tournament.
