Palestinian denies Mladenov's claims that 602 aid trucks entered Gaza

The government media office in the Gaza Strip denied the validity of the statements of the High Representative of Gaza to the Peace Council, Nickolay Mladenov, regarding the entry of 602 aid trucks into the Gaza Strip on Thursday.
Mladenov said in a post on the "X" platform on Thursday evening that "602 trucks loaded with basic supplies entered Gaza today, to reach families who have waited for a long time."
However, the government media office confirmed in a statement that these figures are "inaccurate and contradict the documented facts on the ground," explaining that official data for April 9 indicate that only 207 trucks entered, including 79 aid trucks, while the rest of the trucks were carrying commercial goods for private companies, according to Palestinian commercial sources.
The number of incoming trucks "does not meet the level of the required humanitarian response" and does not reflect "expanded access," the statement said, noting that the percentage of commitment to the entry of trucks agreed upon in the ceasefire protocol does not exceed 38%.
The media office stressed that "falsification of facts does not obscure the magnitude of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe," calling on the international community to intervene urgently to save civilians in the Gaza Strip.
According to the ceasefire protocol signed last October, 600 aid trucks are supposed to enter the Gaza Strip daily, including 50 truckloads of fuel, but the Palestinian side stresses that Israel is only committed to a limited part of these quantities.
In the same statements, Mladenov considered that the entry of 602 trucks represents "the required model for the arrival of aid," noting that this was achieved thanks to the efforts of his team, the team of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and the Peace Council, and called on all parties to fully abide by the ceasefire commitments.
The Gaza Strip is facing a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of Israel's failure to abide by the terms of the agreement, including the opening of crossings and the entry of food, relief and medical aid in the agreed quantities.
Mladenov told the Security Council on March 25 that the situation in Gaza "remains very difficult", despite some limited improvements.
These developments come in light of the continued violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli army, which led to the death of 736 Palestinians and the injury of 2,035 others, according to the Ministry of Health, and the war, which began on October 8, 2023, left more than 72,000 martyrs and 172,000 wounded, in addition to extensive destruction that affected about 90% of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
