Didier Champs led the French national team to a 3-1 victory over Colombia in the match hosted in the city of Landover, Maryland, on Sunday evening.
The French national team entered the match in high spirits after their previous 2-1 win over Brazil in Foxborough, to continue their positive run of results and achieve their fourth victory over Colombia in their last five encounters, after their only friendly loss in 2018 by a score of 3-2.
Dawieh opened the scoring in the 29th minute to score his first international goal, despite the doubts that accompanied his participation due to back pain. Just before half-time, Marcus Thuram doubled the score with a header in the 41st minute after a neat cross from Ryan Akliush.
In the second half, Dué continued to shine and added France's third goal in the 56th minute following a quick counter-attack led by Thuram. The Colombian national team managed to reduce the difference through substitute Khamenton Campas immediately after he entered, before the match witnessed the participation of Kylian Mbappe in the 78th minute.
Flavorless draw between Portugal and Mexico
In another friendly match, the goalless draw between Portugal and Mexico was decided at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, as part of the teams' preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Despite mutual attempts, both sides have been absent from the offensive force.
Mexico is scheduled to continue its preparations against Belgium, while Portugal will meet the United States.
Mexico coach Javier Aguirre praised the required fighting spirit, while Portugal coach Roberto Martinez expressed his pride in playing for Azteca, praising the readiness of the stadium.
Belarus beats Armenia
In other matches, Georgia beat Lithuania 2-0 thanks to a brace from Giorgis Mikautadze, in a match that was completed by the Lithuanian national team with 10 men after the dismissal of Gvidas Jinitis.
Belarus beat Armenia 2-1, with Yevgeny Yablonski and Herman Barkowski scoring the visitors' goals, while Vahan Pikhakhchian reduced the deficit for Armenia from a penalty kick in the final minutes.
