Official and popular celebrations were held today in all Syrian governorates on the anniversary of its launch on 18/3/2011.
Tartous Governorate, like the rest of the governorates, was present on this occasion dear to the hearts of all Syrians. Salvation from injustice and tyranny, and the attainment of freedom, were the titles of an official and popular celebration that the governorate celebrated this evening in the large Ramadan tent in the governorate's square.
Ahead of the ceremony, the new name of the "Central Park" in the city centre was lifted, which was previously named after one of the symbols of the former regime.
Afterwards, the ceremony began with a speech delivered by Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Khatib, Director of the Administrative Units in the Governorate, in which he focused on the meanings of great freedom and congratulated the Syrian people on achieving it after years of struggle, praying for the souls of the martyrs and recalling their great sacrifices that were the price of obtaining this freedom, and stressing the need to move forward to reach Syria to a state for all its children.
This was followed by songs of joy and singing, singing the values and meanings of the precious freedom that the Syrian people have achieved after many decades of tyranny.
The ceremony lasted until late in the evening, amid great joy that filled the hearts of the attendees who came to participate in this blessed occasion.
