No books. Trump's AI-generated presidential library sparks widespread criticism

The unveiling of the initial designs of the Donald Trump Presidential Library has sparked a wave of controversy and criticism on social media platforms, not only because of the enormity of the design and its "flashy" character, but also because of the absence of the most important element in any library , which is books.

A 'smart' vision of a golden skyscraper

President Donald Trump posted on his platform "Truth Social" AI-generated photos and videos of the upcoming project in the city of Miami, Florida, and the design shows a high-rise skyscraper bearing his trademark and includes:

A lavish ballroom, a presidential Air Force One, golden escalators, glamorous interiors, and a huge golden statue of Trump embodying his famous pose following his assassination attempt in 2024.

His son, Eric Trump, commented on the X platform, confirming that the project took six months of intensive work with The Trump Organization's team, describing it as "a constant witness to the greatest president the nation has ever known."

Sharp criticism: "A monument ... Where are the books?"

Social media users were not long in spotting the blatant "omission" in AI-generated images, as the spacious lobbies and halls were devoid of any bookshelves, leading critics to describe the building as more of a "monument to the self" than an edifice of knowledge.

The most prominent sarcastic responses:

One follower commented: "What a paradox, a presidential library for a man who doesn't read, completely devoid of books."

Others criticized the Trump family's recourse to asking the public for donations to fund the project despite their billion-dollar fortune.

Newsom enters the front line

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has taken to the crisis line, criticizing Trump's massive golden statue, writing on the "X" platform hinting at the similarity of the design to statues of leaders in countries such as China and North Korea, saying, "This statue looks very familiar and very similar to some other statues around the world."

Between Developer Ambition and the Limits of Artificial Intelligence

Technical analysts say the images clearly reflect the "limits of artificial intelligence" that executes verbatim commands for the user; while prompts focused on gold, grandeur, and personal representation, they missed the functional essence of libraries.

The question remains: Will this "technical error" be corrected in the final designs, or will the Trump Library be the first library in history to document a presidential era through "screens and gold" only?
