Israel blows up Dagestan mosque and buildings in demolished Quneitra city

On Thursday evening, April 24, the Israeli army blew up the Dagestan Mosque, the courthouse and the surrounding buildings in the demolished city of Quneitra, in a new operation that shook the province with the sounds of explosions, the first of which was heard in the morning and the second in the evening, according to local sources.

The explosions were found to be the result of explosions carried out by Israeli forces stationed inside the city, destroying the remaining landmarks of the Dagestan Mosque in central Quneitra, as well as nearby buildings.

Local sources in the vicinity of the city confirmed that the bombing was part of a series of fortifications carried out by the Israeli forces, both inside the military base and along the "Sufa" line, which includes digging trenches and raising earthen berms on the ceasefire line.

The destruction of the remaining buildings in the city continues, after Israeli forces blew up the Al-Andalus Cinema, the Golan Hospital and the Ibn al-Haytham High School last January, in the context of systematic demolitions that have affected most of Quneitra's landmarks since the Israeli army withdrew from it after the October 1974 war.

A delegation from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) met with a number of families of detainees in Israeli prisons, in the town of Jabatha al-Khashb in the countryside of Quneitra, on Tuesday, April 21.

The meeting focused on the demands of the residents and the raising of humanitarian issues,  in addition to the  violations and violations to which the residents are exposed, especially with regard to the file of the detainees, where the residents called on the UNDOF forces to mediate for the release of detainees in Israeli army prisons, reveal their fate, and limit the violations of the Israeli army forces in the area adjacent to the occupied Golan.

Since Thursday, April 9, UNDOF forces have intensified their presence near the villages of Al-Rafid, Suissa and Saida Al-Golan south of Quneitra, and have begun to conduct surveillance patrols along the line separating the occupied Syrian Golan.
