More than 100 killed and wounded in Israeli raids on Lebanon in 24 hours

32 Lebanese were killed and 74 others were injured in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the aggression launched by Israel on Lebanon since last March to 2,759 dead and 8,512 wounded, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today, Friday, May 8, 2026.

The Lebanese Civil Defense announced that one of its members was killed and others were wounded, as a result of Israeli raids that targeted various areas in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes launched a raid on the town of Mansouri in Tyre, and two raids on the neighborhood of Sreij on the outskirts of the town of Nabi Sheet, on the borders of the eastern Lebanon mountain range, which led to deaths, injuries and extensive damage in the area.

The Israeli army also issued warnings to evacuate the towns of Numeiriyya, Tir Falsieh, Helusiyah, Halusiyah al-Fuqa, Tura, the town of Abbasiya and the battle of southern Lebanon.

Since March 2, Israel has been waging a large-scale aggression against Lebanon, which has displaced more than 1.6 million people, equivalent to one-fifth of the population, according to the latest official data.

Haifa city under bombardment for the first time since the ceasefire

On Friday, the Israeli army announced that 3 soldiers were wounded as a result of two strikes carried out by two Hezbollah drones, one near the border, and the other inside the occupied territories, before 3 rockets were fired from Lebanese territory towards settlements in northern occupied Palestine, in the first shelling on the city of Haifa since the ceasefire came into effect on April 17.

About one million settlers went to shelters after the sirens were activated in the areas of "Haifa Bay, Nahariya and Acre" amid a wide security alert in the north of occupied Palestine, according to the Hebrew Broadcasting Corporation.

The rockets were fired hours after the Israeli military announced the assassination of a commander in Hezbollah's "Radwan Unit," Ahmed Wehbe, in a raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday evening.

The Israeli military said earlier that it was preparing for the possibility of carrying out shooting operations from Lebanese territory in response to the assassination, adding in a statement that this comes "in accordance with the assessment of the situation and against the background of recent developments."

A fragile truce and daily breach

A 10-day truce began on April 17, and was extended until May 17, but Israel continues to violate it daily through shelling that leaves dead and wounded, in addition to widespread destruction of homes in various areas.

During the current aggression, Israel has penetrated for a distance of about 10 kilometers inside the southern borders, and continues to occupy territories in Palestine and Syria and refuses to withdraw from them, contrary to UN resolutions.
